Jacob swims again!!!

After a more than 2 month hiatus from swimming, Jacob returned to the water. We went with Grandpa and Uncle Eric. At first, I think he forgot what swimming was all about. He clung to Mommy and Daddy like we were going to drop him. He wouldn't let go! I tried to let him go on his tummy and splash and kick, but he would have nothing to do with it. I tried sitting him on the side of the pool. He just cried. I was heartbroken! I was sure he would never enjoy the water again. This went on for about a half hour.

Then, Uncle Eric took him. He started throwing him in the air. Jacob loved it! He started laughing! I then tried with him again. He finally started to be okay. It didn't take long after that for him to be the "Kicking Baby" that he used to be. He was basically trying to swim right out of my arms after that! He was jumping into my arms from the side and everything! I was so happy!

So, we are determined to try to go swimming weekly again! Jacob loves it so much!

Jacob is so funny!

Jacob did the most hilarious thing yesterday. He got this LeapFrog Hug & Learn Globe for his birthday from his Auntie M. He didn't show much interest in it until last night. Daddy turned it on a showed Jacob and he started dancing to the music. Then, after dinner, he started playing with it. Once he turned it on, he started circling it. Round and round and round he went! :) Not quite sure what he was trying to accomplish. I tell you I laughed so hard!

Oh ya, that reminds me of something else he did yesterday. I gave him some Italian Meatballs as part of his dinner. He wasn't much interested in them. He put them in his mouth, then just took them right out. It was what he did next that was really funny. He puts one up to his ear and says "Hello" in his cute little voice. I nearly lost it is was too funny! I suppose I shouldn't have laughed in front of him... Oh well! Sometime you just have to laugh!!

Jacob likes these too!

It seems as though Jacob has been known to take interest in Mommy's slippers too Sheepy! I think he just likes the colour blue though. They are also really soft. Jacob likes soft furry things! Including sheep!!

A boy and his slippers

Jacob loves his slippers.

I am not really sure why.

The truth is, they aren't really Jacob's slippers at all.. they are daddy's!

Jacob discovered them lying around the middle of the floor one day. Now, most people, especially mommy, would yell out in disgust "Get this stinkin' things outta here!".. and who could blame her! Think of where they came from!

But, Jacob instead decided to adopt them as his own. He likes to pretend he can wear them. He likes to put his toys in them. He likes to throw them around.

I think, maybe, he knows that they belong to daddy, who in some ways is a bigger version of himself. Perhaps a reflection of what he will be one day (heaven forbid! :)... and that might make him happy, because of his love for his parents!

Or maybe it is like Linus, and his security blanket. Something about it might make him feel safe.

They are just slippers.. something so simple, something so unimportant.
But yet..Whatever the reason, it always brings a smile to his face.

In that case...What else really matters?

A boy, and his slippers!

Go Habs Go!

Hi!
Did you know that Jacob is a Habs fan?
Just like his daddy at that age, Jacob likes to wear the Montreal colours, and play with his Canadiens hockey stick.
Even though his mommy is a Sens fan, we all enjoy watching a game together!
OK, well maybe that part was made up.. but someday I think it will be true!

I'm not too sure which hockey team i'm a fan of. Maybe mommy can comment on that!
Go team Go!

What a wonderful mommy!

Hello!
It is a rainy day in January, and not much fun being outside today.

But, as I sit here by my window and look outside and dream of happier weather, i'm also looking inside.. not just inside my home and Jacob's room, but inside my heart.

Jacob and I both have so much love for our family, they give us such a warm and loving home, we don't always show it but it makes us very happy.

I want to especially say how much I love my mommy. She doesn't always realize it either but she is the most wonderful, loving person we know. She brought us into this world and welcomed us into her home, which is now ours too. She didn't even think twice about it because that is just who she is!

Even when Jacob was born a year ago (see the picture!) the day was so long and difficult, like none we have ever known! ..but yet somehow, at the end of the day, when Jacob was born, it didn't matter how tired or sore she was, she was the happiest person in the world. Look at the love in her face!

I don't know if I tell her much but I am so proud of what she has done in the last year or two! It takes a lot of work to make such a wonderful baby, and keep such a loving home. And now she even is back at work too!

Even when the day is difficult, and tiring, its ok because everything else is just detail when we think about how wonderful our lives are together and all the joy we bring eachother. Sometimes the day is long and tiring, but she always has a warm hug for us at the end of the day. What can be better than that?

We love you, mommy! We can't wait to see you tonight!

My brothers and sisters!

You may not have known this..but i'm not the only Sheepy that lives with Jacob!

We have lots of brothers and sisters too, and they are all Sheep! Some are even Lambs.

Here is a little synopsis on the other members of the family!

Bonnie
  • Bonnie is a white sheep, fairly small, and very musical. She came into Jacob's life a few months after he was born. She does a funny dance whenever she makes music, and she has a pink collar.

Carly
  • Carly is Bonnie's twin sister and she joined us not long after. She has the same song but a slightly different pitch. She does a similar dance, though not quiet the same. Also she has a pink collar but its trimmed differently.
Ella
  • Ella joined us a few months ago. She sleeps a lot. She is cute, but I don't know what she's always so tired!
Gloria
  • Gloria is the newest member of our family! At first she came across as shy, but she seems to be one of the few of us who likes to talk just as much, whether she is with mommy, OR daddy! She might sound shy or unsure of herself, but that is OK because she is very cute and she is fitting in just great!
Lambie Nusbaum
  • Lambie is a Sheep of British descent. He was brought to us not long after Jacob was born, by Grandma. He used to have a lot to say (in a rattling kind of voice) a year ago but he's been pretty quiet lately. He is an explorer, and is not home much these days. He occasionally sends postcards telling us about his amazing adventures. Maybe he'll make his own blog one day. I think he has a blue collar but I can't remember 'cause I haven't seen him for awhile.

Pascal
  • Pascal was very shy at first, but then he started talking and we had a hard time understanding him 'cause of his deep French accent. I think he comes from France. He was also brought to us not long after Jacob was born, by his Bubbie!

Russ
  • Russ recently joined us, just after the holiday season. He is a small guy with very long legs. He likes to 'bound' a lot, and he seems to make Jacob laugh

Sheepy
  • Thats me! You already know a bit about me. I tend to be very quiet when mom is not home. I like to sing a lot. My favourite songs are "Hands" and "The Sheepy Song", which daddy used to sing every night when Jacob was in mommy's tummy, and i'd dance on top of him and kiss him good night. Daddy would make up different words every night and sometimes they were OK. Sometimes they were just silly! Anyways, I am mostly a happy sheep. Sometimes I get moody because Jacob is always trying to grab at me or slap me. But I think he just really loves me lots!
..............we have more family members too! I'll tell you about them soon. Check back in a few days!
